Welcome to Ms. Terri's Christian Kid Care & Preschool or MTCKC for short. Here you will find pictures and explainations of our set up. Questions, please contact me.

This is the first thing you will see when you walk in the front door. We
turned the livingroom into the kidcare room. We have the bulletin board
with pictures of the children, small containers that hold the little things
I might need during the day, my childcare paper work and our
transportation sheet.
We put in a berber carpet that is better for cleaning and allergies.
Everyone will have to take off their shoes on wet days so that it can
stay clean. It is very important to us that the kids have a clean and safe
place to play. Your child's safety is a top priority at MTCKC.
On the other side of the table is our Home Living Center.
We have our large kitchen, a high chair and a baby crib full
of baby dolls. Under the crib is a drawer full of clothes for
the babies.
They enjoy playing as if they are eating out or going to the
movies. We have old movie tickets for them to use in that
game. Dress up is a big thing. The boys love dressing up like
a pirate and the girls like putting on the crown and being a
princess.
On the other side of the table we have our reading area. We have a
couple of bookshelves full of board books and hard covers plus
baskets and containers full of many, many books.
The pink and white bench covered in Care Bears is full of coloring
books. We spend a lot of time coloring and reading!
We have the dry erase board to work with the kids on school
subjects and also play games with the colored dry erase markers.
Just inside the hall door
is the diaper changing
area. Above it are
cabinets for the diaper
supplies. Each child will
have their own shelf
labeled with their name.
Underneath is diaper pail.
We like to keep some
things here so that it
makes it easier on
everyone. We like to have
2 change of clothes,
diapers and wipe refills. A
request will be sent home
when we are running low.
When a change of clothes
is sent home, please
remember to bring them
back the next day so we
have them again should we
need them.

Down the hall from the changing area is the Big Kid Backpack Rack. Each
preschooler and school age child will have a hook with their name on it. This
will help them learn to recognize their name and the names of their friends.
They will bring a backpack to keep here with at least one change of
clothes, a tooth brush (for brushing their teeth after meals) a comb or
brush, and a blanket and/or toy for nap/rest time. Underneath the hooks
are baskets for the kids shoes. When the kid arrive during cooler days,
they can go hang their jackets or coats on their hook. When they go outside
or go home they will put their shoes back on.
The children's bathroom is right next to the Backpack Rack. There is a
step for the shorter kids to use to get on the potty and/or to reach the
sink. There is kid hand soap and kid wipes.
The hall opens into the dinning room. The playroom doorway is right next to
the dinningroom. That makes it easy for the kids to get to the bathroom.
There is a safety gate that keeps the kids in the playroom until it is time
for potty breaks or lunch time or when it is time to go outside to play.

The kitchen area is very small. Since it is open to the other rooms,
the children will always be within site even while we are making lunch
for them. We provide healthy meals and snacks for the children that
are here. We even like to try new fruits from time to time that
some might not have had the chance to try. We have a small blue
table with six chairs. The kids eat at that table and we use it to
create our Cooking With Kids activities.
There is a second computer that the children have access to if
someone else is on the one in the kidcare room. It has the same
games on it.
The window in the kitchen faces the backyard. The children are not
allowed in the kitchen area for safety reasons.
The den is to the right of the kitchen table and the playroom is to
the left. You can see all the way through the house from the playroom
into the den. That makes it very easy to keep the children in sight at
all times.
There is a piano next to the table. We enjoy working on our beginner
music skills.
Next to the entry is the preschool's computer. It was purchased this year (09) and the kids
love it! We have a huge CD holder of games for all ages. We get new games when we can to add
to their collection. We also get the Scholastic Click Club orders to help increase our games.
Each child will get to play at least 30 minutes. We have a timer to make sure we stay in the
time limit set. Children will also work in teams on games. That works well with the younger
preschoolers. We pair them with an older preschooler or one of the school age kids.
Some containers face towards the round table and Ms. Terri's "office". They contain craft
materials, piants, curriculum books, math manipulitives (like pattern blocks, linking cubes,
counting frogs, tangrams.), dry erase activities for the kids to work on their writing and
musical instruments, CD's and tapes.
The den has become our new "livingroom". We moved our
entertainment center into the den. This is where we will watch a
movie. We have tons of family friendly videos. Some of their
favorites to watch are the Leap Frog video's like "The Letter
Factory". Usually when we watch one we are also involved in a coloring
activity or they are looking at the books in that room. But TV will not
be our main focus here. That will be one of the smallest parts of our
care. The picture into the den was taken from the playroom door on
the other side of the dinning room table. There are no doors between
the three rooms, only doorways.
For older kids we also have video games for PNO.
It is our hope that these photo's and explanations of how we do things will put your mind at ease and answer
any questions you might have. We have divided up the areas so that the children will be able to keep things in
the correct areas and learn to put things away before they move to another center. It works really well. If
not, feel free to ask us anything. We also hope this will help you to picture your child(ren) during their day.
As things change around here as we add new things to our kid care areas we will add new photos. It is our
desire to provide the best for your child(ren).
This page is a work in progress. I will add new photos as time
allows. I hope you will look through my pages and tell me
what you think. I take great pride in providing detailed
information so that you can make an educated decision in your
childcare situations. More photo's to come, check back often!

This is a picture of the front of our house. I know it doesn't snow much in Texas but I just love this picture. It is the prettiest one of the front of our house. We live on a quiet street. Our large backyard has a fence around it.
|
Near the door is Ms. Terri's "office" area. Some of the children's
art work is hanging on the back of the door, along with cards and
pictures the kids have given us. There is a bulletin board for monthly
updates and special notices for parents.
The radio/CD player is in that area and we have music time in that
area. At nap time we put on instrumental only CD's to give the kids a
relaxing rest time.
From the front door to the left you can see our transportation Station
and Blocks Center. There is a car rug in that area. There are containers
with cars, trains, Knex, Duplo Legos, Legos, and wooden blocks to play
with in that area.
The containers also contain wooden puzzles, Leapers, and playdough,
Veiw Masters, Magna Doodles, My Little Ponies, Doll house toys and
animal of many shapes and sizes, dress up clothes and a drawer with
other pretend items; cell phones, calculators, keys, etc.
The book rack against the wall holds many themed books and some have
tapes/CD's to read along with.

There is a large round preschool table that the kids do crafts, puzzles
and other activities that require a table. There is a magnetic board
that is also a dry erasse board to draw on. We have six chairs that will
fit around the table when the whole group is working on a craft or
other group activity. We have a world and US map, posters of letters,
colors, numbers, shapes, planets and verses all around the room.
